Frodo Baggins and his pals, Samwise Gamgee, Meriadock Brandybuck, and Peregrin Took, began their quest to destroy the One Ring, little realizing how often they would miss Second Breakfast (and Elevenses, dinner and supper, too, I'm sure). Along the way to Mount Doom, they encountered many misfortunes and evil creatures.
My quest today (June 5), though much simpler, was a misfortunate one indeed. My trusty (or not-so-trusty) Beemobile decided to act up right when I was cruising along at a good clip in the far left lane of the northbound beltway. Long story short, I had to have it towed all the way to Annapolis, where I was to find out later just how much I needed to charge on the credit card. Yikes!
Thanks to a good geocaching friend, my daughter and I were able to get a ride home instead of hitching a ride to Annapolis in the tow truck. Likewise, Frodo not only had his close Hobbit friends, but he also had an awesome group of companions to help him along his journey: Gandalf, Aragorn, the dwarf Gimli, the elf Legolas of Mirkwood, and Boromir, a man of Gondor. I have been in predicaments before while geocaching and was "rescued" by fellow geocachers. It is so good to have made geocaching friends on whom I can call in times of need.
I never got my Second Breakfast this day. Instead, I arrived home in time for Elevenses.
I'm going to try this event again...
