After all that lootin' an' a-plunderin' ... 'tis time to batten down the hatches an' Par-Tay like a Parrot! The Forum River Center Arena be transformin' into the exclusive pirate hang-out known as Club Skallywag! Wear yer finest piratin' outfit or, if'n ye be a good-fer-nuthin' landlubber, ye may just come as ye are. A cash bar an' concessions will be available fer yer enjoyment while our Master of Music provides the beat fer ye scurvy-legged scoundrels a-struttin' around on the dance floor. There be lots of excitement still in the works for this special evening, so keep yer eye patch peeled for new ships on the horizon. Arrgh!

ACTIVITIES


Pirates Muster into One of Seven Pirate Crews

Attendees may register in one of seven pirate crews. Each crew will have their special Captain, Ship Name, Jolly Roger Flag and crew colors. Crews will accumulate points throughout the events and activities. The victorious Pirate Crew will be announced at the closing ceremonies of the Going Caching Mega-Event and have their Jolly Roger hoisted high at the Club Skallywag Costume Soirée event (GC89CAK) Saturday night.

Going Caching 2019 Pre-Event T-Shirt Puzzle with $100 FTF Prize

Get your hands on this year's pre-event t-shirt and solve a puzzle which leads to a loggable geocache hidden somewhere in Rome, Georgia. Only puzzlers who solve the shirt will know what to do and where to look for the final clues during Going Caching 2019. The final clues, the geocache and the $100 FTF prize can be found beginning Saturday, October 5th. Early arriving geocachers have no advantage on this one.

Pirate Pub Crawl (Thursday evening, 8pm - 11pm) ticketed activity for ages 21 & over - SOLD OUT

Downtown Rome pubs be ready for yer plunderin’ and pillagin’! Pub Crawl Ticket holders will receive a Crawler's Kit and punch card good for a 4-ounce pour at each of 6 of the Going Caching Crew’s favorite pirate hangouts. Enjoy delicious craft brews on tap at each stop! Right after the Flash Mob on Thursday evening, the Roman Chariot Shuttles will set sail from 8pm to 11pm on a circuit route exclusively for geocachers between pubs, downtown hotels and parking decks. If you do not have a ticket, you can still join in the fun and ride the shuttles to the various pubs. Yo Ho Ho!

Matey Match Button Contest (Friday evening through Saturday)

A Matey Match Button is included in every paid registration package. Wear your button while keeping an eye out for another one just like it. After meeting up with your match, both of you come to the Going Caching Store Tent to spin the prize wheel and see what you each win!

A Pirate's Dilemma Trading Card Adventure (Friday through Saturday)

Assemble puzzle pieces in your trading card packs to obtain the clues you need to solve the pirate's dilemma in downtown Rome. Once you have all your special cards stamped, return to the Mega-Event location to gain entry into the Escape from the Black Barnacle experience room.

Mayhem, Adventure, Plunder (M.A.P.) Challenge (Friday through Saturday)


Obtain your M.A.P. Passport and depart on the Mayhem, Adventure, Plunder Challenge where you search for treasure while visiting brand new geocaches and other ports of call. You choose which geocaches and adventures to find. Accumulate enough points to earn a trackable Challenge geocoin. Passports will be included in each paid registration package and will be available separately in our Going Caching Store. One Passport per individual.

Lab Caches (Friday through Sunday)


Enjoy geocaching lab cache creations by the Going Caching Crew. To learn more about lab caches, visit the Geocaching Help Center. The Geocaching Adventure Lab App is required to log lab caches.


NOTES FOR ATTENDEES

● There is no charge to attend any of the Going Caching 2019 events. Some of the activities during these events do require certain items that can be purchased in our online store.

● Store purchases may be picked up Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Civic Center (see coordinates above) and at all events on Friday and Saturday. There will be no package-pick up the Barnsley event or the Flash Mob Parade event. We cannot ship purchases prior to the event except for Pre-Event Puzzle T-Shirts and Custom Cache-Card orders. If you are interested in purchasing items but cannot attend, please contact us through our website.

● Parking is free at Ridge Ferry Park. A special parking permit for an up-close and reserved (just for you) parking spot is included in the Patron-level registration package. Adequate parking for those with official disability vehicle tags or placards will also be available. Please obey all city and county parking regulations as you make your way to find the geocaches.

● Pets are welcome at Going Caching 2019 but must be on a 6' leash at all times. Pets are not permitted in any tents, pavilions, buildings, stage, escape rooms or cooking areas at the event venues. Look for the "Paws Permitted" decal to see which shops and restaurants in town are pet friendly. Please be a good pet owner and clean up after your pet.
