This War Memorial commemorates the former members of the Glasgow Academy who served in the First World War. It marks their service and sacrifices as a reminder and inspiration to those who come after.
In that role, it is largely intended as a memorial for the children who have since attended, now attend and will in future attend the Glasgow Academy, which was founded in 1845 and is the oldest continually independent school in Glasgow.
This cache is placed to bring people here, to remember those who have served and those who have fallen.
