Geocache Description:

GARS is of celtic origin, GAR or KAR means « big rock ». GARS is a little village of ESTERON, leaning agaist a cliff. The abundance of water and the setting up of turbines allowed it to be the first village of the country to benefit from electricity at the beginning of the century. This village will amaze you with its beauty. Through the vaulted and flowery alleys, some of them pass under the houses of the village, you can admire the houses all made with stones, tight against each other, facing the sun, as well as its heritage. Among the visits not to be missed, the SAINT SAUVEUR Church, registered on the inventory of Historic Monuments in 1936, the old oil mill and the eco museum CESLESTIN FREINET. Many fountains, washhouses and waterfalls will adorn your visit.
