Geocache Description:

Gbr : The pink flamingo: is present all the year in the area. Indeed the Camargue is the only place of reproduction of flamingos in Europe. The young are born white and then become gray. The flamingo gets his beautiful pink plumage around 3-4 years. This species has the particularity of creating nurseries: group of small kept by some adults. A dozen weeks after their birth, the young take flight. In the following fall some will make their first migration to spend the winter in warmer regions. The pink flamingo feeds on insects, worms, fish, aquatic plant seeds and rice, which causes conflicts with Camargue rice farmers. However his favorite dish is the artemia salina: a small crustacean living in lagoons and salt marshes. It is its high carotene content that gives the flamingo its beautiful pink plumage.

Ita : Il fenicottero rosa: è presente tutto l'anno nell'area. I giovani nascono bianchi e poi diventano grigi.
