The Georgia Geo-Campers will be camping at Fort McAllister State Park the 2nd weekend of November - 8th & 9th. (the first weekend during day light savings time) Most of the GG-C's will be arriving on Friday to set up camp, then readying for the weekend, and exploring the awesome POI's Fort McAllister offers.
Have you ever experienced a tour of a Civil War Earthworks Fort by candlelight, guided by re-enactors dressed in period garb? Back by popular demand, the GG-C reserved this rare experience as it has become a popular nighttime tradition for Georgia Geo-Campers.
To show Georgia State Parks some geocachers' appreciation for parks engagements with geocaching, we will host several informational booths near our camping area during the day on Saturday. Please join us, the schedule is posted below.
Schedule of Activities for Saturday:
Topics Under Tents:
Geocaching 101 (Graydirk) - Dutch Oven Cooking (AgentHop) - Hammock camping (CleverPig)
Georgia's most famous, 'Stone Soup'.
Bring a can, or another food item, and add it to 'The Big Black Pot' hanging over the camp fire. When fully cooked, everyone shares dinner.
Bonfire (we supply the s'mores)
Prizes & camp fire fun - including the exciting, "Jackpot Camper Drawing". (bring un activated trackables to participate)
The Candle Lantern Tour of the Fort.
To Camp Out With The Georgia Geo-Campers Within The Fort:
To reserve a camp site inside the Fort with the Georgia Geo-Campers, just include with your 'Will Attend' log - "reserve a camp site please". If you prefer, you can contact me directly via the profile link at the top of this page.
*PLEASE* - DO NOT CALL THE PARK for reservations!
The historic Fort already has been reserved just for geocachers to camp out. To simplify the reservation process, I (FatKidsOTWUnite) will update the "Fort Campers" list below who have reserved a site. (camp sites are limited) I will also collect your camp money at the park and turn into the office. -> This will simplify the reservation process for everyone.
$25 per tent for two days camping (Friday and Saturday nights).
$5 Candle Lantern Tour -> for those who will not
be camping in the Fort.
$5 Per vehicle to get into the park, if you don't have (your Park Pass.)
Got a camper and want to stay in the campground area instead? Great! You don't like to camp out and would rather rent a cottage for the weekend? No worries! This park has several accommodations to meet your needs. You'll need to make those reservations yourself by visiting the State Parks self reservation system by clicking here.
