Geocache Description:

The Alameda Navy base is closed down, but you can still visit it and see the ships.

When I placed this cache there was only one traditional cache in the area. The rest are all multi's that require a lot of work to track down and find. Multi's are cool but sometimes you just have time for a quick one.

There is a lot to see in the area. Looking west of the cache you can see a fully armed jet bearing down on you ready to launch one of its missles. The USS Hornet is worth a visit too. Or you can just drive around and get a feel for what a Navy base looks like. It's not as alive as it used to be but maybe you can get a little flavor.
