Castlerigg is perhaps the most atmospheric and dramatically sited of all British stone circles, with panoramic views and the mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat as a backdrop.
It is also among the earliest British circles, raised in about 3000 BC during the Neolithic period.
The area of this event is managed by English Heritage and if you wish to read some of their historical findings about this stone circle please click on the link below.
Today's event will be a chance for cachers to meet and chat about caching and its fun.
As always there will be a voluntary log book to sign.
I plan to bring and expert on the peaks of the Lake District who will point out all the hills and fells that can be seen from this wonderful vantage point.
Please log your intention to attend and be aware there is parking for only about 6 vehicles.
See you at the stones.
