Ezemvelo Caching Weekend - 2020
This part of the world, where biosphere meet, are not empty of caches anymore. Time to explore this Nature Reserve over a weekend!
Ezemvelo Nature Reserve
Ezemvelo Nature Reserve is the hidden beauty of Gauteng. Located a mere hour’s drive from OR Tambo International airport and 45 minutes from Pretoria, it is easily accessible by all.
The reserve offers an array of comfortable self-catering accommodation types to suite your needs, as well as a wonderful natural experience, with a wide variety of general game and bird species to be seen. Together these make Ezemvelo the perfect place to break away from busy city life.
A wide range of activities are on offer, from fishing to mountain biking, ensuring fun for the whole family.
Covid-19 & Protocols
· Thank you to every cacher that can join us on this weekend, to be blessed in these troubled times.
· Everyone is aware of protocols that is in place because of this pandemic. We would like everyone to adhere to them.
· Please book as soon as possible, we might be limited on how many will be allowed in.
The Team & The Weekend
· The idea of this weekend, and it started in 2018, was realized with the help of Anton (Jors) & Edward (WorsEd). This year (2020) ChrisDen & Mart514 joined the team. Thank you all for your efforts!
· Fellow cachers may be approached for ideas and challenges. And of course, would be appreciated if you offer!!
· Caches will be published a day or two before the weekend to enable everyone to download it on offline maps or GPS-devices, as cell phone signals are weak.
· All caches (it is up to every cacher) published for this weekend can be logged as FTF’s.
· For those who are unable to attend a sleepover and are willing to drive through for a day over the weekend to join us in the fun, PLEASE DO SO!! This weekend is open for everyone.
30 October 2020 – Friday
· Arrive at Ezemvelo Nature Reserve reception any time from 14h00, or of cause earlier. (S 25 42.216 E 028 56.706)
· Payment of the required fees (if outstanding) directly to Ezemvelo Nature Reserve.
· Camping sites, chalets and family huts (not on the same premises) are available.
· We will enjoy some braaiing with fellow cachers this evening.
· Bedtime – this will happen sometime this night!!
31 October 2020 – Saturday
· Arise & shine
· Breakfast – enjoy it before the activities for the day starts.
· Hiking, cycling, and driving routes – you choose what you like to do.
· Maybe an adventure – we are contemplating it.
· Saturday evening, we start off with a Sundowner. Please bring you own drinks, glasses, and snacks and join for a relaxing time watching the sun go down.
· Then fires will be lit, bring your own food and drinks, chairs and cutlery as nothing can be provided.
· Wood and charcoal to braai on would of cause be welcomed.
· Bedtime – this will happen sometime this night!!
1 November 2020 – Sunday
· Arise and shine.
· Search for all the caches that you have not find yet.
· To close the activities at Ezemvelo Nature Reserve for 2020, there will be a CITO-event.
· After brunch, depart at your own leisure and please travel safe.
SPECIAL NOTE:
· You do not have to sleep over to claim this event, access fee to Ezemvelo Nature Reserve will apply.
· This event can be logged any day of the weekend.
