Worcester Blackstone Visitor Center

The new Blackstone Heritage Corridor Visitor Center at Worcester was opened in the Fall of 2018. An extension to the bike path was opened at the same time. Hours for the Visitor Center are Monday-Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Sunday Noon to 5:00 PM.The original plan was to also house the Worcester Historical Museum here unfortunately on March 22, 2010 the Rome Building was significantly damaged by a three-alarm fire, thus delaying the creation of the visitor center. Before the fire, work had been completed on an adjacent park along the Blackstone River and a pedestrian walkway across Rt. 146. The walkway is used by residents to cross from the Vernon Hill neighborhood to the Quinsigamond Village neighborhood. Now more than a park, the Visitor Center is an interpretive and cultural destination for the region. Connections can be found here to Worcester neighborhoods, walking trails and bikeways, and access to the Blackstone River and the Blackstone Canal. The site is also part of the  John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Historical Corridor.
