Red Deer's Community Celebration!
20 Years of Geocaching!
Happy Birthday Geocaching! It's time to celebrate the kick off to summer and all we've accomplished no matter how long we've been caching!
When: Saturday June 20, 2020 - RAIN OR SHINE!
Where: Mckenzie Trails Picnic Shelter - Red Deer - See Map/ Coords
Time: 11:30 - 145 (Booking is from 11 - 2 for setup/clean up)
What: Celebrate with a potluck lunch - if no fireban - some hotdogs on the fire - game activities - PRIZES maybe even some cake!
PARKING: There is free parking however it will be midday - Saturday in June - Unless the weather is bad, I expect limited parking options. Bike if you can or you may need to park further away and walk in.
Birthday Presents - All birthdays have presents! - We will do a cache exchange! Bringing a cache is optional - the more crazy the cache the better. Or go plain and simple! Don't forget to wrap it! Everyone putting in a cache will get a number for the order they will pick - you can steal but we will have some rules!
I will provide the hot dogs - please state in "your will attend" the number in your party. I will attempt to make things as dietary accessable but I'm not perfect. If you want to bring your own "tofu dog" or something else to toss on the fire that's more than fine by me.
***As it is potluck - please bring something to share.
Intiniary of time (ish) will follow so stay tuned for more formalized details!

On May 2nd, 2000, the US Government, under an order from the White House, switched off GPS "selective availability" for non-military GPS. This immediately improved GPS accuracy to within a few meters.
The next day, on May 3rd, Dave Ulmer hid a black bucket near a road in the forest outside of Beavercreek, Oregon (near Portland) and posted the GPS coordinates on the internet - the sport of geocaching was born. This geocache became known as "The Original Stash" with the GC code "GCF".
We celebrate the 20th anniversary of geocaching with this great community celebration event!
