The posted location is for the Britannia Park Trolley Station, which is now a covered picnic area. There are several picnic tables there, as well as additional tables nearby outside. There is ample free parking, public restrooms, BBQ pits, and of course a beach. The facility nearby also has a well-rated burger joint, so you can purchase food there if you choose.
I will get to the site early and try to reserve the covered area. This event goes “rain or shine”, but hopefully “shine”.
The celebration is a pot-luck picnic. Please bring your own main course(s) and drinks, and if you can, please contribute something for us to share – a salad, snack, or dessert. I won’t be coordinating what people are bringing, other than to suggest that people list this in their “will attend” log. If we get 25 potato salads, I guess we will be enjoying a lot of potato salad! Personally, I will bring a load of plates, cutlery, napkins, cups and a CAKE, since this is a combined celebration of Geocaching’s 20th birthday, and my own 60th birthday!
All are welcome – bring your geo-friends, geo-families, as well as beach toys, Frisbees, etc. I won’t be organizing activities other than the picnic itself, so if you want to do some classic “egg-and-spoon relays”, or “two-legged” races, you are on your own!
See you there!
