How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

11 July 2020, 11:00 - 14:00

Who: Anyone in the geocaching community; new cachers, old timers, long lost geocachers, both local or distant. Even those who have never attended an event before are invited.

Where: Canyon Lake Shelter #3 - 4011 Jackson Blvd. Or, at the posted coordinates.

When: Saturday July 11, 2020, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Why: To bring the community together and help celebrate 20 years of geocaching.

Come join us by having a potluck style picnic in the park! There will be fun, food, games, prizes, and an abundance of geo-talk. Be ready to share stories of your adventures, travels, and some of your favorite and creative geocache finds over the years.

There won't be a set timed schedule of activities, but we will probably eat shortly after the event start time at 11:00 a.m. Games and other fun stuff will happen afterward. Plan accordingly. We will have a small donation jar available to help cover the cost of renting the shelter. Donations are optional and not required. Pets are welcome, but MUST be on a leash per park rules.

We (the Furrballs) will bring a few large pizzas along with disposable plates, napkins, and plasticware. We will have some bottled water and various sodas available (on ice), but consider bringing your own as well so we don't run out. It might be warm that day. NOTE: Alcoholic beverages of any kind are not allowed anywhere in the park.

Please bring something to share; sandwiches, cookies, cake, chips, donuts, salads, desserts, etc. Or whatever. We are NOT planning on using the BBQ grills at this event. We have the shelter available for use starting at 10:00 a.m., and will be there around that time to start setting up. The shelter has electrical hookups if needed for your sides or crock pots.

If you have any lawn games, please bring them. There is a horseshoe pit right next to the shelter, so if you have some horseshoes and you want to play, bring them! A couple of bean bag (aka Cornhole) boards and some bags would be a blast! If there's enough interest, we could have a mini tournament with either or both games and award prizes to the winners. We would just need someone to help organize this. Let us know! A few quick board games could be fun too, so feel free to bring a few if you want.

Various door prizes, geocoins, ammo cans, cache containers, swag, etc will be given away throughout the event.

Everyone who logs "Attended" will receive a special Event Icon along with a 20 year Community Celebration Souvenir on their profile page.

** NOTE: It is not required to eat, bring food, or participate in any games or activities to log this event. Just come hang out if you wish.

Please log your "Will Attend" here on this page, include how many people in your group, and note whether or not you are bringing food to share, or games to play.
