Geocache Description:

[FR]

The Episcopal City of Albi, which became a World Heritage Site in 2010, is part of the prestigious list of "unique" cultural properties inscribed in the world by UNESCO.

Geocaching is the ideal opportunity to discover the city and some unmissable places, including the old bridge and its view of the cathedral.

The economic growth of the city brings people to settle on the other side of the Tarn even if the access is perilous since it is done by ferry. In the Middle Ages, Albi became an unavoidable crossing point for trade routes and it is thanks to the construction in 1040 of what is now called the "Old Bridge" that this new district was born. The suburb of Cap del Pont is home to factories needing space and using the power of water: mills, brickworks, tanneries, dyeing plants. In fact, you can still see these beautiful brick buildings, tiered along the river banks. There were also craftsmen: weavers, drapers, tailors, master saddler, cooper, innkeeper...).
