Number 1431 in a series of caches where a red telephone box is in close proximity to a post box.
The only rules are that they have to be able to be photographed together, be not more than 100’ apart and the phone boxes have to be red.
A Fine Pair # 1431 ~ Queensway, London
This fine pair is outside of the Queensway Tube Station. In designing of urban infrastructure, transport and communication went hand in hand. Arriving at the station, I could call my friend, “Hey, I am here. Which Chinese restaurant have you got a table?” Or when I had a letter to post to my pen pal, my flat mate might say, “Sure! I will pop it into the post box on my way to work tomorrow!”
Nowadays, with mobile phones and social media, these conversations don't take place much. The fine pairs are nowadays around to help nostalgia.
The address you are outside of is A Queensway WB. On the direction board, Paddington Station is 1C minutes walk away, Royal Oak 1D minutes and High Street Ken is 1E minutes. The Royal Albert Hall is 1F minutes away, G minutes less than for Albert Memorial.
The little cache is a few minutes away from here, located at N51°30.(B+C)(D-G)E, W000°11.(A+D)(D-G)F. Although not as crowded with muggles as Queesway itself, the hide area can still be very busy, so stealthy moves could be required. Tweezers may be necessary to extract the log.
Optional: when was the last time you used a public phone box? If you wish, tell us about what it was like going retro in your logs!
