Cerca del escondite hay un monument especial, el árbol más antiguo de Tenerife. Es un enebro de cedro, juniperus cedrus, y se llama Patriarca. Su edad se estima en unos buenos 1100 años.
Tenemos este caché intencionalmente no despúes del patriarca, sin despúes de la brillante obsidiana negra que se encuentra aquí. La obsidiana es un vidrio de roca volcánica, que se forma por el rápido enfriamiento de la lava rica en silicatos con un bajo contenido de agua.
Una nueva ruta de senderismo lleva ahora hasta el árbol. Comienza en el waypoint 1. Tenga en cuenta que hay zonas con estrictas normas de protección al norte y al oeste de nuestro sendero, cuyos límites no son claramente reconocibles. Por favor, manténgase en el camino.

Nahe am Cache steht eine besondere Sehenswürdigkeit, nämlich der älteste Baum Teneriffas. Er ist ein Zedernwacholder, juniperus cedrus, und wird Patriach genannt. Sein Alter wird auf gut 1100 Jahre geschätzt.
Wir haben diesen Cache absichtlich nicht nach dem Patriarchen, sondern nach dem hier vorkommenden schwarz glänzenden Obsidian benannt. Obsidian ist ein vulkanisches Gesteinsglas, das beim schnellen Abkühlen von silikatreicher Lava mit geringem Wassergehalt entsteht.
Neuerdings führt ein Wanderweg zum Baum. Er beginnt bei Wegpunkt 1. Bitte beachtet, dass sich nördlich und westlich von unserem Weg Gebiete mit scharfen Schutzbestimmungen befinden, deren Grenzen nicht klar zu erkennen sind. Bleibt daher bitte auf dem Weg.
Nachtrag: Offenbar hat die Verwaltung des Nationalparks die Bedeutung unseres Caches erkannt und deshalb zwischenzeitlich unseren Wegpunkten folgend einen Wanderweg gelegt. Um den Versteckplatz nicht zu verraten, endet der allerdings beim Patriarchen. Den Cache müsst Ihr selbst finden.

For a long time we thought about whether we should put a cache here.
Close to the cache there is a special sight, the oldest tree of Tenerife. It is a cedarr juniper, juniperus cedrus, and is calles Patriarca. Its age is estimated at a good 1100 years.
We named this cache intentionally not after the patriarca, but after the shiny black obsidian that is found here. Obsidian is a volcanic rock glass, which is forned by rapid cooling of silicate-rich lava with a low water content.
