Geocache Description:

Image

After laying my first cache in this village where I grew up, I decided to continue with 3 traditional caches, 2 of which are on the multi circuit:

- Saint-Jacques church

- The Baniou wash-house

- Théodore's wash-house

I hope you will enjoy strolling through this little Bigourdan village. You will find all the information concerning this village in the multi TERRE SAUVE.

Romane church (XIe s.)

Sauveterre is a "sauveté", that is to say, a village founded by the religious power of the church in the middle of the eleventh century. Whoever comes fix it, is "saved", or permanently protected. The initiative of this creation is due to the power of the very close of the abbey Casedieu, near Marciac, which already controlled in the eleventh century, the road from Arles pilgrimage of Saint-Jacques de Compostela, which crosses always Sauveterre.
