About SideTracked - Bulli Station

Bulli Railway Station
Bulli Railway station is significant for its rare 1887 station building on Platform 2, surviving from the first period of construction of the Illawarra line.
The station building is one of the most intact of only four remaining examples of an 1880's third-class weatherboard station building along the Illawarra line, and remains as a tangible reminder of the role of Bulli Station as a transport hub for the village of Bulli since 1887.

The presence of the Black Diamond District Heritage Centre occupying the central section of the 1887 Platform 2 building indicates that the place has a specific social significance for the local community.

To the south of Platform 2 building is displayed South Bulli No. 2 loco, built in 1888 in Leeds, England. In 1995 the locomotive moved to Bulli Station for display, together with a Corrimal-Balgownie Coal Co. open hopper and Australian Iron & Steel 4-wheel brake van. Unfortunately Bulli Station is not far from the coast and South Bulli No. 2 and its short train require ongoing maintenance against the effects of the salt and moisture-laden air. Hopefully at some stage funding will become available to maintain these old-timers for future generations to see.

The Cache

**The cache is not at the published coordinates**

This is an offset multi with GZ not far away.

At the published coordinates you will see in front of you the historic Platform 2 station building built in 1887, and occupied by the Black Diamond Heritage Centre. .

To the North of the Station Building 2 at approximately 37metres, and near a piece of historic machinery, there is a utility pole with numbers on it. Use these numbers to find the final location of the cache. By calculating the following:

S34 20.ABC E150 54.DEF

Where:

A = First number minus 2

B = Second number minus 4

C = Third number plus 3

D = Fourth number plus 5

E = Fifth number plus 3

F = Sixth number minus 9
