The Rocherlea Scout Hall was originally the Rocherlea Community Hall and was located where the current Rocherlea Community Hall now stands. In the early 1960's when a new community hall was proposed the old building was donated to the 1st Rocherlea Scout Group. Accordingly a series of working bees led by three of the scouts' fathers the old hall was dismantled and re-erected on its present site,
Over the years both halls have been extended and extensively renovated. Mr Frank Nieuwhof was the original Scout Leader and was ably assisted by his brother Stephen. A third brother Henry was a furniture maker in Launceston. The three brothers along with their mother emmigrated to Tasmania from Holland.
Frank continued his involvement with the Rocherlea Scouts for many years and in recognition of his contribution the Scout Hall was renamed the Frank Nieuwhof Memorial Hall after his passing.
Congratulations Rocket2015 on your F.T.F.
