In 1808, Erik Jansson was born in Biskopskulla in Uppland. Later
in his life he became the leader of a group of religious dissidents
called the Janssonites. Due to persecution, 1500 Janssonite
emigrated to the USA and in 1846 the Bishop Hill Colony was founded
in Henry County, Illinois.
