Who is this ChiefGeocacher fellow or lass? After NY Admin left us, the Long Island crowd was hurting, looking for a knight in shining armor to save our bacon and approve our caches. Of course, there were others who came to help...we certainly appreciate Sapience Trek and AnyReason2Wander for their efforts, but it wasn't the same. And then, out of nowhere, ChiefGeocacher comes to our rescue, approving caches left and right and providing excellent feedback like a dream. Is there anything the Chief can't do?
Well, presumably the one thing he or she couldn't do was an identity reveal. Surely, there would be risk. So many fans waiting to praise the Chief's efforts, groupies everywhere, geocachers from all over the world sending tokens of their love. But if anyone could source the info and unmask our beloved Admin, of course it's the Geocachers of Long Island. Let's be honest...we're pretty great, right? And so, at this event, which will be held at the West Lindens lot (near P6 parking area and next to the Rose Garden) of Eisenhower Park, from 2-6 pm on Saturday, April 24th, the secret will finally and forever be un-secreted...
For such an awesome, breathtaking, mind-numbingly important occasion, a celebration is in order. Fun? Of course. Food? You betcha. Chips, drinks and desserts? No question. We'll have some of all of that, but you're welcome to bring some too if you'd like! This is a once-in-a-generation event. No expense will be spared [note: lies]. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your kids (the lot is right near a kid's playground)...just keep your distance and wear your mask!
For anyone traveling into Long Island for this awesome event and to meet our great community, we have plenty of geocaching things to experience for the remainder of the weekend:
Note that COVID-19 is still a risk. Therefore, social distancing and wearing a mask is required at this event. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided.
