Riggins Idaho is one of my family's FAVORITE places to camp, hike, fish, and drive around in. In honor of that, I placed this cache near the trailhead of one of my favorite hikes. The Salmon River Road is 23 miles and has so many activities for everyone. While out in the area, soak up the sun on the beach and enjoy the hike. The cache hiding spot can technically be seen from the bridge but you won't know it until you leave.
Some directions for this cache: Take Highway 95 south through Riggins, turning left on the Salmon River Road. About 23 miles later you’ll come to the Wind River Pack Bridge. There’s parking for at least two vehicles alongside the road. After crossing the walking bridge you will take the trail to the right. Following the first right-hand trail a 100ft or so you come across a smaller trail heading towards the river, take that trail. You should come across two gravesites, if you don't, you took the wrong trail. If you're under the bridge and nearly to the beach, you didn't follow the first trail long enough. The Gravesites are 200 yards upriver from Wind River Pack Bridge and the trail goes between them. After visiting them, you'll see a very large triple pine tree with signs stating that it is a "Bearing Tree", pass this big guy and take 50 steps to the beach, stop, and then turn right, until you face the bridge. Now you should see about a 20 ft pine that is alone and not with the row of pines. Next to this pine, is a concrete box of sorts. Inside this odd concrete cube, is where the cache will be.
Please put back how you found it, watch for muggles. The cache will have some room for swag or toys, nothing too big. GPS on phones will not work out here.
