This cache is honor of the Great Blue Heron!
Habitat: You can spot these slicked-back beauts in places just like the reservoir - in marshes, swamps, shores, tidal flats and moist fields. Be sure to check out the Heron Rookery at the Regulating reservoir.
Diet: Fish, frogs, crawdads or even gophers, insects and little birds should keep an eye out for this stealthy, swamp-stalker.
Fun Facts: Frank! Frank! As beautiful and graceful as this big bird may be, if you hear a deep, harsh croak calling out for "Frank!", a Great Blue Heron may be nearby or flying overhead with its long neck folded in during flight to keep its dagger-like beak from tipping it too far forward.
