Geocache Description:

DO NOT GO TO THE POSTED COORDINATES. THEY ARE NOT THE GEOCACHE LOCATION. To find out where the geocache is, you will need to figure out the exact location where Hermes stashed the cache.

This is the fifth cache in a series based on our family’s love of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series, and is a tribute to Hera, Goddess of Family, loyal wife of Zeus, and vengeful “Karen” against half-bloods and others who show favor other goddesses above her for any reason. (see also: the Trojan War and the cow-chasing of Athena’s half-blood hero offspring).

Hera’s original cache was of course hidden among the trees of Mount Olympus, but when Olympus moved to the states, she decided that it would be better to bring it here, so she directed Hermes to hide it for her. No one really knows exactly where, but one of our heroes did overhear part of the conversation they had about it.

Hera: Hermes, I need you to put this somewhere those pesky half-blood heroes won’t find it. I know we’re not supposed to hurt each other, but if I’ve got to tell you again, Zeus just might “accidentally” zap you.

Hermes: I’m trying, but the heroes and their geocaching friends are so smart. Just look how fast geocacher “Minnestrone” found the tributes to Zeus and Poseidon.

Hera: Hermes! Ixnay on the excuses-ay! I want results, and so far you are zero for… I don’t know how many tries, but it’s a lot. I do not want that Annabeth Chase finding any more of our caches. I’m done with that girl!

Hermes: Well, I do know this place where a bunch of kids like to play baseball. My youngest half-blood son started playing there when he turned six and there are some great hiding spots nearby.

Hera: Fine, as long as it won’t attract half-bloods. The sooner you get going, the better. And Hermes, you aren’t to tell Athena where it is, or she will certainly alert her daughter of the location.

Hermes: Don’t worry, it won’t attract anybody. I will put a White Lotus on the cap of the cache vessel in your honor so that all who visit it will know that it is yours. If you ever get lost, go to N 38 XX.XXXº , W 77 XX.XXXº. Think back on this conversation if you want to finish the coordinates.

UPDATE May 28, 2021: Description remains unchanged, but cache moved slightly to a location that is closer to the solved coordinates (the abundance of metal in the area may have thrown off the original reading. Also, be careful of poison ivy. There is a lot around, but cache should be accessible without walking through it if you go around.
