Our good friend Appleorch (Mike) had hosted his Winter Warmer event for our Geocaching Community's enjoyment since 2016. Unfortunately, the pandemic stopped play this year and he had planned to hold his event as a Summer Sizzler instead, once restrictions were lifted. As he is sadly no longer with us, after a long illness, we have decided to hold his event for him so that he can smile at us from wherever he is caching now. His lovely wife Lynn will be joining us and is looking forward to catching up with the many friends she has made with Mike over the years through our hobby.
This event is being held at the published co-ordinates, The Quicksilver Mail public house, from 1030 to 1200 (or until attendees have chatted, eaten, and drunk their fill), with the kind permission of the pub Landlord Pete Lambden, and his Manager Katrina. Breakfast will be available if required, but must be pre-ordered via your ‘Will Attend’ logs by 16 September to enable the premises to prepare the correct quantities, as they do not ordinarily open for breakfasts. Hot and cold drinks will also be available.
Mini Geocachers are very welcome, but no dogs please, due to people dining.
Appleorch always held a raffle at his Winter Warmer events to raise funds for local charities, and we will continue his tradition with a raffle on the day. We have some options for the funds raised which can be chosen by the attendees on the day. Generous prize donations have already been given, but more prizes always gratefully received to raise funds for a good cause.
If you log a 'Will Attend', please would you indicate if you would like breakfast pre-ordering, what you would like, and if you have any food intolerances, on your log. Breakfast options available will be full English, bacon/sausage/egg sandwich, and uncomplicated variations of these.
