My “So you think you know…” series of puzzles has proved popular with some (those who like cryptic crosswords), and though there are still a few more of those under development, I thought I would try something similar but with a much smaller geographical area, looking at a single town or parish, and identifying street names rather than place names. I think this is a little easier than puzzles which cover an entire district, but I’m sure that people will tell me!
There is no need to visit the posted coordinates, which are not relevant to the puzzle itself.
For this puzzle, you need to solve the mainly cryptic clues below to identify 20 street names in Heanor and Loscoe. Heanor and Loscoe has a single town council, and if you are unsure of what area it covers you could probably find a map, but basically it is Heanor, Loscoe, Marlpool and Langley. Local knowledge will certainly help, but if you are struggling then Google or other online maps should let you see all the street names in the area. For the calculations, you need to miss out words like “road”, “street”, etc. All but one of the answers you are looking for consists of a single word.

Once you have solved them, put the 20 street names into alphabetical order, and then use this to calculate the coordinates.

A = Number of letters in the 19th street name, minus the number of letters in the 20th street name
B = Number of letters in the 8th street name
C = Number of letters in the 11th street name, minus the number of letters in the 14th street name
D = Number of letters in the 12th street name
V = Number of street names beginning with the letter K
W = Number of street names beginning with the letter R
X = Number of letters in the 2nd street name
Y = Number of letters in the 7th street name
Z = Number of street names ending with the letter N
