Geocache Description:

Geocache Description: Australia's first two Federal female politicians.

In 1943, Dame Dorothy Tangney and Dame Enid Lyons became the first Australian women to enter Federal Parliament. Dorothy Tangney was Australia’s first woman senator and the first Labor woman in Federal Parliament. Enid Lyons was the first woman elected to the House of Representatives and the first appointed to federal Cabinet.

Dame Enid, from Tasmania, was the first elected woman to the House of Representatives and the first woman to serve in the federal cabinet, while Dame Dorothy was the first woman elected to the Senate for Western Australia, with both taking office in 1943.

On International Women's Day 2023 the sculptures of both women have been put near the Old Parliament House. A granddaughter of Dame Enid said
“The family are feeling terribly proud and very excited but there’s a little dismay that having achieved so much 80 years ago, successive governments haven’t seen that as something that’s been worthy enough to acknowledge sooner.”

Question ; On the pavement in front of the statues are some phrases that describe both the ladies. Standing with your back to the statues, what is the phrase on the far right-hand side?
