This is the eighth cache in a series based on our family’s love of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series, and is a tribute to Apollo, God of the sun, music, art, poetry, archery (really, which one wasn’t), knowledge, and truth. He is the twin brother of Artemis, owner of a bright smile and dark sunglasses, and the mortals know him as Lester Papadopoulos.
While he is best known for his horrible haikus… “ I am so awesome…” this cache provides something a little bit more pleasing to the ear. Once you find his godly music box, adorned with his Sun and Lute symbol, you will need to play the missing notes in order to unlock the log.
Luckily for you geocachers, most of the “sheet music” is set forth inside the box, though there seem to be a few holes. The song to play is an ancient Greek tune that Apollo titled “Ode to Charon” though you may recognize it under a newer title.
You don’t “need” a special tool, but some standard tools of the trade would certainly be helpful.
