About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found on the SideTracked Series website at www.sidetrackedseries.info https://www.sidetrackedseries.info
SideTracked Week Events
The very first SideTracked cache was placed at Evesham station in the UK on August 10th 2007. Every year to celebrate the anniversary, SideTracked events are held across the globe in the week of the anniversary.
With the increasing number of SideTracked caches here in Victoria, which now cover north, east, south and west, this is an opportune spot to meet where many of these train lines connect. The event is a chance for geocachers to get together, have a bite to eat (optional) and swap SideTracked and other cache/railway stories. A unique chance to dine "ontop" of a railway station.
Where: Melbourne Central Lion Hotel (Lvl 3 Melbourne Central Shopping Centre)
When: Wednesday 9th August
Start: 6:30pm

Melbourne Central Station
Museum station as it was originally known opened on 24 January 1981 as one of three underground CBD stations. Melbourne Central Shopping Centre was built around the entrance to the station (and the famous shot tower) in 1991. The station was renamed after it in 1997 as the Museum was in the process of being relocated to Carlton.
The station has 4 platforms across 2 levels.
