This CITO is going to be held in areas where "karast" features are common. Sheer drop offs are present. As well as hidden cracks in the earth. There is a risk of personal injury.
We will be volunteering to help the MKC. The Michigan Karst Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting awareness and preservation of unique karst features in Michigan. They also allow geocaching on their properties.
This CITO will take place at the Fiborn Preserve.
We will meet at the parking area at 10:00am. The day's work plan and other details will be discussed. Some of the scheduled tasks will vary as available supplies may change the schedule.
Some personal items that you should bring are water, snacks, lunch, insect repellent, sun screen, hat, gloves and sturdy boots.
You will need to bring your own tools. Some suggestions would be a shovel, rake, hand pruner, pruning saw or lopper.
Some of the Fiborn Preserve tasks that we may work on are:
- Walk the trails – clear debris and if necessary clear the trails of downed trees, etc.
- Removal of invasive plants.
The work should be completed by 12:00pm.
If you have never been at the location, now would be a good time to visit to see these wonderful Michigan karst features. There are several traditional and Earhcaches here.
If all goes as planned, I will replacing all of my current caches here with new caches. They will be available to find but will not be published until sometime after June 20th.
I will be hosting CITO events at this location on the following dates;
July 8, 2023
September 23, 2023
