SideTracked
This term originally referred to a train being put on a side track to allow another train use of the main track. It now also means someone being distracted from an immediate or important issue. "She was sidetracked by an FTF in the middle of her trip."
About SideTracked Caches
SideTracked caches are a popular series familiar to anyone that has been caching in the United Kingdom. SideTracked caches are intended to provide a quick cache n' dash at train stations. Here in the US, we don't have too many passenger trains anymore, but in many cases we'll have an old train station, or the memory of one. This series allows us to look into our railroad history, and grab a quick cache. We currently have three SideTracked caches in our area. More information can be found at the SideTracked Website.
About SideTracked Events
Every year in the UK, and around the world, SideTracked Events are held on August 10th (SideTracked Day) to celebrate the placement of the first SideTracked cache in the series. This year is the 16th Anniversary of: GC15082 - The First Ever SideTracked - Evesham Traditional Geocache.
About This Event
This is about as close as we can get to the old shadow of the Asheville Station. Now all we can do is watch the freight trains go through, and share caching adventures. If available, we'll meet up on the second floor mezzanine of Wedge Brewery at Foundation. Food is readily available nearby, or you can bring what you like. We'll probably have something to snack on. As always, no purchase is necessary to attend this event.
If you're into badges on your profile page, the administrators of the SideTracked Series have created a badge for this event. It is not a souvenir. You have to edit your profile page and copy and paste the following code to have it appear:
