12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM
Fall pot luck, games, prizes, and most importantly... geo-friends!
I'll take Fun Times at Glendale Lake for $200, mrGreen... Answer: A game that challenges your geocaching, geography, and geologic knowledge while being surrounded by your friends in the geocaching community. What is Geo-Jeopardy?
That's right! The Game Night event series by Two "greens" returns this autumn to a JAGA-land centralized location, Prince Gallitzin State Park, for another year of Fall-time fun!
Probable schedule:
Before 12:00 pm: The pavilion is rented all day; setup will be ongoing at GZ as soon as the hosts are able to arrive, sometime between 9am and 10am; enjoy the offerings of the state park if you arrive before the official start time. You might even want to track down some area geocaches if desired.
12:00 PM: Event kick off; meet and greet
12:30 PM: Food, friends, and geo-conversation
1:30 PM: Geo-Jeopardy - Four contestants will battle each other giving the questions that match the stated answers in two rounds (Geo-Jeopardy and Double Geo-Jeopardy) to earn the most geo-cache-points and be declared the winner! We intend to have our buzzers, video question boards, and theme music to provide a realistic Geo-Jeopardy experience. Play-in rounds/games (depending on player interest), might be used if needed, with up to 8 (or possibly more players) getting narrowed down to 3 or 4 players to see who might be our next champ!
2:45 PM: Intermission (Game reset)
3:00 PM: Wheel of Geocaching "America's favorite game" has become a favorite for the geo-version at our Game Night events. Since we played some different games after "The Feud" at the summer picnic, we have included the "Wheel" this fall, similar to the 2021 Fall Event (remember "Sitting around the ampfire"? - well, that software glitch has since been corrected). We anticipate between 3-4 contestants for this game, based on sign-ups. If narrowing down from more than four is required, we could do some toss-up style "Wheel" puzzles to work as a play-in round.
4:00 PM (or end of Wheel): We have Plinko, Signal's Cliffhanger, and some other fun-filled coordinate-guessing games set up for the conclusion of this event, so "Come on down" - you might be the next contestant on "The Coords Are Right" ! Of course, no game of "Coords" would be complete without the running of the prize cars (of course!) to determine the showdown players, plus our Geocaching Travel Showdown round to crown the grand winner!
5:00 PM: Do we still have prizes to give away? Maybe we can make some Geo-Deals or do some drawings, depending on who is still hanging around and what is available. What's in the big ammo box, or behind one of the "curtains"? Be sure to have some possibly-common geo TOTTs on hand, and you might be selected for some of the final available prizes! We ended last year's Fall Game Night with these additional prizes, so to wrap things up before the packing away of the game equipment, we'll give out a few more gifts.
5:15 PM: Event conclusion and final event geo-conversation... Thanks to everyone for joining us!
Keep watching this page for any potential changes or additions to the event schedule.
Soft drinks, bottled water, and individually-wrapped snack foods should be present. green nikki is providing meatball sandwiches again this year (YUM!) Attendees may bring their own personal food items or share with the common food some form of "pot-luck" style item. If you do wish to bring food to share, there is a counter with plenty of electrical outlets in the middle of the rented pavilion, which makes it ideal for this type of event food. If you are planning to share a food dish, posting the name/type of food in your "Will Attend" might be helpful to avoid a lot of duplication.
Helpful Items
Please indicate in your log the number that attend with your geo-user name, and (if possible) what your plans are for food offering or interest. This information will assist with event planning.

Driving to the event: Prince Gallitzin State Park is located in Cambria County, in the heart of JAGA-land. Our event will be held in the day use area, off of Marina Road. Depending on your direction of travel, you might be approaching via PA-53 from either north or south. Take Marina Road towards the state park when coming through the village of Frugality (south of Fallentimber / Van Ormer or north of Ashville / Dean). Drive Marina Road until you get to Buck Road (before the marina) and take the right onto Buck into the park and follow the signs for Pavilion 2. If you are travelling from the west, you might be approaching the state park via PA-36 through Patton. In Patton, take Glendale Lake Road (slight left before PA-36 heads uphill southward out of town) to the village of Nagles Crossroad, and then shortly afterward, look for a left turn onto Marina Road. Take Marina Road past the park office and the marina and turn left on Buck Road, following the signs for Pavilion 2. Please note that Buck Road in the state park lands might be called "Beaver Road" on some online maps, and this is not the same road as Beaver Valley Road which runs up the west side of the state park past the campground and towards the dam area. Please note the posted speed limits on roads within the park. See this page for maps of the park.
For more information about the park, such as camping, hiking, or fishing opportunities, please see the main park page.
