Marmong is Aboriginal for low water or swampy water.
This part of the lake is called Marmong Point Foreshore Park. It is a perfect place for a picnic, fishing, walking the dog or just hanging out and watching the sunrise. Its a great spot to bring the kids as there is ample seating and playgroud facilities. I have often watched the fireworks at Speerspoint from here. Close by is the Empire Marina Lake Macquarie where plenty of people launch their boats. For the culture minded cacher, across the bay at Boorugal there is the award winning LMC Museum of Arts and Culture yapang, I highly recommend stopping in and checking out the sculptures and artwork!
