Let's meet for a hike and some GeoChatting!
When: Sunday September 22nd, 2024 from 9:30-11;00
Where: Turtle River State Park, CCC shelter parking lot
Why: For the fourth year, the North Dakota Park & Recreation Department (NDPRD) has issued a statewide “12 Months – 12 Hikes” Challenge. To participate, just hike one of the trails in one of the participating state parks. You have the entire month to complete a hike.
The North Dakota Geocaching Association (NDGCA) would like to help everyone complete the hiking challenge. To do this, we will be hosting an event in a different state park each month, so we can get together with other geocachers.
What: Let's complete the September hike on the Fisher Loop Trail. We will meet at the parking lot and take off to the trailhead at 9:40. The trail is about 1/2 a mile long. This scenic trail begins by crossing the Turtle River. I picked this hike because I can't find the cache at the bridge. This wooded trail winds through the hillsides and along the river corridor. Portions of this trail are groomed for Fat Tire Bikes and hiking, and others for cross-country skiing in the winter. Rest rooms and water are available. Afterwards you are encouraged to join us for refreshments and more geo-chat.
Hope to see you all there!
Reminders: A daily pass ($7) or annual ND state park pass ($35) is required to enter. Dress for the weather/trails
