Quasi-Walking Columbia CITO: 2024 - Season 2
This is an early Saturday morning CITO that's nothing special - just a chance to take a walk around with a few other cachers and pick up some litter while we're at it. It's being held at this early time for those who (like myself!) often find it difficult to attend weekend events during the daytime/evening. If attendees have not yet had a chance to earn their CITO 2024 - Season 2 Souvenior, now will also be a chance to do it! In addition, this event also falls during the last day of the World Postcard Day promotion, so it's also a chance to earn this other souvenir as well. This event is two-for-one special!
Although simple in concept, we held a few of these over the last two years in Columbia and surprisingly a decent amount of trash was picked up. For the location of this clean-up/walk, we will be visiting the Broken Land Parkway Park & Ride West lot, located along the border of the Owen Brown and Kings Contrivance villages. Currently, there is a bit of trash that seems to have collected along the border of this lot. As this location has been frequently utilized by local cachers over the years as both a location to find caches, as well as a place to meet up with other cachers to head out for adventures, it seemed like a fitting place to hold a CITO.
We will meet up at 7:30AM at the posted coordinates, and begin the CITO at that time. The entire event will be contained to the park and ride area, so those who may need to get there late should easily be able to find us somewhere within this location. There will be some walking involved (although not as much as some of the other walking CITOs I have held). Attendees can help clean as much as they are able. Parking is (not suprisingly) available at the location itself, and the CO will distribute and collect the trash bags resulting from the clean-up. Participants should bring their own water, gloves, and/or trash grabbers, if they would like to have any of them.
Hope to see you there!
