Geocache Description:

Celebrating 25-Years of Geocaching!!!

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a daring quest,
where Signal hopped from log to log,
to find the very best!

The skipper led with GPS,
the team was strong and keen,
through maps and forms and countless calls,
they built a caching dream,
they built a caching dream!

The planning started rocky rough,
the first plan sank away,
but fearless minds and steady hands
would save the grand display,
would save the grand display!

And now we gather by the shore,
where caches bring a smile,
with FlagMan, GSMx too,
Balcanthez and W9JIM,
a Ginger Star,
a Fossil lady, and the rest,
here on Signal’s Isle!

On May 2, 2000, at approximately midnight, eastern savings time, the great blue switch* controlling slective availability was pressed. Twenty-four satellites around the globe processed their new orders, and instantly the accuracy of GPS technology improved tenfold. Tens of thousands of GPS receivers around the world had an instant upgrade. Geocaching was born, and the rest is history!!  Click on the link, above, for all the details!!

*there is no actual blue switch
