November Adopt-A-Spot CITO
Marion Parks and Recreation have been generous over the years of letting us hide caches (with an approved permit) in the city parks. I noticed this year, they are giving individuals or groups an opportunity to "Adopt-A-Spot" and help them maintain their parks. The committment is to clean up the assigned area at least once per month. This seemed like the perfect opportunity for the Iowa Geocachers Organization to give back to the city of Marion by adopting a spot and host a monthly CITO! So that is what I have done. I have adopted the section of the Grant Wood Trail that spans from 35th Street to 44th Street and I will be hosting a CITO event each month to clean up this stretch of trail.
The plan is to meet at the posted coordinates on Friday, November 29 at 2:00PM and walk the trail. Please note, if you arrive more than 10 minutes late, you will not find a group, as we will already be down the trail by that time. We will start as a group heading east. I will provide bags, but feel free to bring golves and any trash pick-up tools you desire. Please be sure to log your will attend to receive updates. In the event of bad weather, the event will be postponed.
This will be the last Adopt-A-Spot event for 2024!
Date: Friday, November 29
Time: 2:00PM - 3:00PM
Where: Grant Wood Trail in Marion (posted coordinates)
Why: Because it's nice to give back to the areas we play! Plus, we could all probably use some exercise after everything we'll eat the day before this event.
