Este monumento, inaugurado a 17 de julho de 1999, é uma homenagem a Manuel dos Santos e a todos os ciclistas das Terras de Santa Maria como de quem levou e leva o nome da terra bem longe, sobre duas rodas.
Alguns nomes constam neste tributo:
Dinis Silva- Com apenas 18 anos, foi 2.º classificado na Volta ao Estado de São Paulo (Brasil) de 1973 e também 2.º na Volta a Portugal de 1974;
Joaquim Pinto- Na Volta a Portugal, conquistou o 3.º lugar em 1986, o 6.º em 1987 e o 5.º em 1992, destacando-se pela regularidade entre os melhores;
Manuel dos Santos- Destacou-se em 1933/34 ao vencer várias provas populares com a camisola do Sporting Clube de São João de Ver. Em primeiro com uma “pasteleira” de 20 kg, depois com uma prestigiada André Leducq. Foi o grande impulsionador do ciclismo na freguesia e no concelho;
Mário Sá- Venceu a mítica Porto-Lisboa em 1959;
José de Sousa Santos (filho)- Teve como principal conquista a Volta a Málaga de 1977 e na Volta a Portugal, foi 9.º em 1977, 6.º em 1979 e 8.º em 1980;
Sousa Cardoso- Vice-campeão da Volta a Portugal em 1958 e vencedor em 1960, foi também campeão nacional de ciclocrosse em 1959;
Joaquim Sousa Santos (filho)- Com 18 anos, foi campeão nacional de perseguição. Venceu o GP Cerâmica de Valadares em 1973. Na Volta a Portugal, foi 5.º em 1976, 2.º em 1977 e dominou em 1979, vencendo a geral;
Sousa Santos (pai)- Foi 2.º na Volta a Portugal em 1955 e 1957 e venceu a clássica Porto–Lisboa em 1959;
Augusto Cardoso- Venceu um contrarrelógio individual no Estádio das Antas em 1969.
No pedestal do monumento pode ler-se “O esforço é representado. O sacrifício, nunca o será.” Esta citação lembra que por trás de cada vitória há dor, superação e uma entrega que vai além do que se vê. Desta freguesia saíram ciclistas que deixaram (e continuam a deixar) marca no ciclismo português e além-fronteiras!
Quanto à cache:
A cache não contém objeto de escrita e é extremamente importante estar atento à dica e aos waypoints para a realizaçao da mesma. Tem muito cuidado com os muggles uma vez que o local é bastante frequentado, por isso por favor sê discreto!!!

This monument, inaugurated on July 17, 1999, is a tribute to Manuel dos Santos and all the cyclists from the Lands of Santa Maria, as those who carried and carry the name of the land far and wide, on two wheels.
Some names are in this tribute:
Dinis Silva - At just 18 years old, he came 2nd in the 1973 Tour of the State of São Paulo (Brazil) and also 2nd in the 1974 Tour of Portugal;
Joaquim Pinto - In the Tour of Portugal, he won 3rd place in 1986, 6th in 1987 and 5th in 1992, standing out for his consistency among the best;
Manuel dos Santos - He stood out in 1933/34 by winning several popular competitions wearing the shirt of Sporting Clube de São João de Ver. He was the great promoter of cycling in the parish and in the municipality;
Mário Sá- Won the legendary Porto-Lisbon in 1959;
José de Sousa Santos (son) - His main achievement was the 1977 Tour of Málaga and the Tour of Portugal, where he was 9th in 1977, 6th in 1979 and 8th in 1980;
Sousa Cardoso - Runner-up in the Tour of Portugal in 1958 and winner in 1960, he was also national cyclo-cross champion in 1959;
Joaquim Sousa Santos (son) - At 18 years old, he was national pursuit champion. He won the GP Cerâmica de Valadares in 1973. In the Volta a Portugal, he was 5th in 1976, 2nd in 1977 and dominated in 1979, winning the overall;
Sousa Santos (father) - He was 2nd in the Tour of Portugal in 1955 and 1957 and won the Porto–Lisbon classic in 1959;
Augusto Cardoso- Won an individual time trial at Estádio das Antas in 1969.
The monument's pedestal reads, "Effort is represented. Sacrifice, never will be." This quote reminds us that behind every victory there is pain, overcoming and a dedication that goes beyond what can be seen. Cyclists came from this parish and left (and continue to leave) their mark on Portuguese cycling and beyond!
Regarding the cache:
The cache does not contain any writing material, and it is extremely important to pay attention to the clue and waypoints to complete the cache. Be very careful around muggles, as the place is quite popular, so please be discreet!
