Geocache Description:

The Gannel Ramble.

A walk around the Gannel estuary between Newquay and Crantock.
There are three virtual locations where you have to decipher clues to make up the co-ordinates for location 3 and the final location where there is a box with all the usual contents.

The estuary is tidal and the final location is not accessible at high tides so please check on tide times before starting.

We estimate that the average geocacher should take about an hour to complete this cache.

Our children used to love this beach when they were younger, the retreating tide leaves many pools, (Some quite deep) which when warmed by the sun are great and fairly safe for young children to play in.

Parking is available at Location 1 and is free.

Location 1. N50 24.377 W005 05.170
There is a circular Discovery Trail plaque at the car park with a two digit number in the middle.

If you subtract the first digit from the second the answer is co-ordinates A and E.
The first digit is also co-ordinate H.
Add 4 to each digit, First digit = Co-ordinate G. second digit = Co-ordinate J

Location 2. N50 24.400 W005 05.408
There is a plaque here, Find the weight MNO and length PQ of “MARY PEERS”.

N plus Q minus M = co-ordinates I and K.
N= co-ordinates C and D.
O=co-ordinate L.

Location 3. N50 24.GHI W005 05.JKL
Another plaque, this time you are looking for the year of excavation RSTU.

R=co-ordinate F
T=co-ordinate B.

Location 4. N50 24.ABC W005 05.DEF.

You are looking for the normal tupperware box, It is wrapped in a grey plastic bag to help it blend in. Please remember the earlier warning about the tides.
