It's CITO season again! Join us for a clean-up and give local birds, fish, and wildlife a fresher, safer place to call home! Every bit of rubbish we remove helps nature thrive — so grab your gloves, bring your energy, and let’s make this place sparkle for the creatures who live here. I have personally seen a hoiho yellow-eyed penguin, kororā little blue penguins, dusky dolphins and pakake sealions in the harbour.
WHAT: We will be clearing litter and other tidal debris at the southern end of Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour.
WHERE: Meet on the Streamside Park Pathway, north of the 'Pak n Save' car park, just west of Mungarui Point.
WHEN: From 12.30 to 13.30.
PARKING: Lots of free parking adjacent.
BRING: Closed footwear only - no sandals, jandals or crocs. This is a safety requirement. Porirua City Council will be providing rubbish bags, some gloves, and pick up devices but, if you have your own, please bring them.
EARN: Geocaching HQ's souvenir for CITO Season 2 in 2025 (for attending a Cache in Trash Out® event between 1 Sept and 30 Nov 2025).
In order to log your attendance at this CITO, please arrive by 12.30 to collect bags and any other kit. A Council representative will be on site to collate rubbish at 13.30 and the log book can be signed at this time. PCC will arrange collection of the rubbish we've cleared up shortly thereafter.
