Please join myself and the Biodiversity Officer from Kingston University for a CITO
Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Through these volunteer efforts, we preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources.
Tasks will include removal of invasive species such as Bamboo, Bramble, Flag Iris, Himalayan Balsam, Spanish Bluebells and Rhododendron depending on which site and time of year. Other tasks may include habitat creation and monitoring, litter clearances.
The hope is that this volunteer work will encourage more growth of the native species and a return to a more natural woodland.
No previous experience is necessary as full instructions will be given at the start.
Please be prompt for the health and safety talk at the beginning if you have never attended one of these CITOS before. After this we will move into the woodland. The Biodiversity Officer is happy for those who have attended before, to arrive later.
Please bring your own gardening gloves, waders, (if appropriate) and wear old clothes/waterproofs that are suitable for day's weather and sturdy boots as the area we will be working on is uneven and on a fairly steep slope.
Snacks will be provided and we will try cover the people that log a 'will attend', please bring your own packed lunch and drinks. Cakes to share are always welcome!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions beforehand if you are unsure of anything.
