Celebrate 200 Years of Railway History!
In 1825, the Stockton & Darlington Railway opened the world’s first passenger railway station on Tuesday 27th September — a milestone that transformed travel forever. Steam locomotives carried passengers and goods at unprecedented speed, sparking a transport revolution that connected towns, boosted industry, and shaped modern Britain.
This special SideTracked Railway 200 event at Liverpool Lime Streetis part of a nationwide celebration running from Wednesday 24th to Tuesday 30th September 2025. All finds and hides from this event count towards your SideTracked statistics, and a unique profile badge will be created especially for this event. Whether your chosen location is old, disused, miniature, or still bustling today, it’s part of a railway story that’s been 200 years in the making.
When: Wednesday 24 September 2025, 5.00pm to 5.30pm
Where: The North Western, JD Wetherspoon, 7 Lime St, Liverpool L1 1RJ - Look for an announcement with a table number before the event
Down in Liverpool for a show at the Philharmonic later in the evening, I'm attempting to to a bit of tidying in Liverpool city centre and stopping for a a pit stop for some food ahead of heading back that way.
Why not come along and celebrate Sidetracked Railway200 - no purchase of food or drink is necessary to attend the event. I'll bring along a log book, and a small tub for trackables. I'm happy to take away any trackables that fit, but if yours doesn't, you're responsible for finding it a new owner or taking it home with you.
See you there!
