INTRO
This is the first cache created by me and my 5-year-old son. Since the summer of 2025, I have been introducing my son to the world of geocaching, which he has loved since his first discovery. After finding several caches, he asked me if it was possible to create one. As we are both fans of Marítimo, this location came to mind.

Este é o primeiro cache criado por mim e pelo meu filho de 5 anos. Desde o verão de 2025 tenho mostrado o "universo" geocaching ao meu filho, que adorou desde a sua primeira descoberta. Após vários caches encontrados, ele perguntou-me se era possível criar um. Como ambos somos adeptos do Marítimo, surgiu esta localização.
CLUBE SPORT MARÍTIMO
Founded on 20 September 1910, it is considered the largest club in Madeira, with around 12,000 registered members. Club Sport Marítimo won the 1925/26 Portuguese Championship. It was unable to participate in national championships for a long period, returning to competition in 1973. [note 2] Since then, it has played in the Primeira Liga 43 times, reached the finals of the Portuguese Cup and the League Cup twice, and participated in the UEFA Cup/Europa League nine times. The club has also won the Second Division twice. It is the Madeiran sports institution with the most titles at national and regional level.
With a consolidated position in national competitions and always fighting for a place in the rankings that gives access to European competition, it has played in the UEFA Cup/Europa League qualifiers with some historic clubs, such as Juventus, Leeds United, Rangers and Valencia. In the 2012/13 season, it qualified for the Europa League group stage for the first time.
Marítimo ended the 2022/23 season without a position in the UEFA Club Ranking (142nd in the ten-year coefficient)[3] and also without a position in the IFFHS World Club Ranking. [4] However, the club achieved its best result in its history at the beginning of the second decade of the 21st century, appearing in 99th place in the UEFA five-year coefficient.
THE STADIUM
The Marítimo Stadium, formerly known as Estádio dos Barreiros, is located in the city of Funchal, on the island of Madeira, Portugal, and is owned by Club Sport Marítimo, which plays its home games there. It was officially inaugurated on 5 May 1957[2] and reopened in 2016. It has 10,600 fully covered seats, including 42 boxes spread over two levels.[3]
A legendary venue for Madeiran football, known as the ‘Caldeirão dos Barreiros’ (Barreiros Cauldron), it was owned by the Autonomous Region of Madeira until 2009. At a meeting of the Regional Government of the Autonomous Region of Madeira on 13 September 2007,[4] the stadium became the property of Club Sport Marítimo.
Undergoing extensive renovation, already in the hands of Club Sport Marítimo, between 2009 and 2016 the stadium was transformed, by architect Pedro Araújo, into a high-quality, modern and multipurpose facility for sporting, cultural and leisure events.
CLUBE SPORT MARÍTIMO
Fundado a 20 de setembro de 1910, é considerado o maior clube da Madeira, tendo cerca de 12 000 sócios inscritos.[2] O Club Sport Marítimo venceu o Campeonato de Portugal de 1925/26. [nota 1] Esteve um longo período sem poder participar nos campeonatos nacionais, voltando a disputá-los em 1973.[nota 2] Desde então marcou presença por 43 vezes na Primeira Liga, alcançou por duas vezes as finais da Taça de Portugal e da Taça da Liga, e participou por nove vezes na Taça UEFA/Liga Europa. O clube venceu ainda por duas vezes a II Divisão. É a instituição desportiva madeirense com maior palmarés a nível nacional e regional.
Com uma posição consolidada nas competições nacionais e lutando sempre por um lugar na classificação que dê acesso a uma competição europeia, já disputou eliminatórias na Taça UEFA/Liga Europa com alguns clubes históricos, como foi o caso da Juventus, do Leeds United, do Rangers e do Valencia. Na temporada de 2012/13 qualificou-se pela primeira vez para a fase de grupos da Liga Europa.
O Marítimo concluiu a temporada 2022/23 sem marcar posição do Ranking de Clubes da UEFA (142ª no coeficiente a dez anos)[3] e também sem marcar posição no Ranking Mundial de Clubes da IFFHS.[4] Contudo, o clube atingiu a melhor marca da sua história no início da segunda década do século XXI, ao surgir na 99.ª posição do Coeficiente da UEFA a cinco anos.
ESTÁDIO DO MARÍTIMO
O Estádio do Marítimo, anteriormente designado Estádio dos Barreiros, localiza-se na cidade do Funchal, na Ilha da Madeira, Portugal e é propriedade do Club Sport Marítimo, onde manda os seus jogos. Foi oficialmente inaugurado a 5 de Maio de 1957[2] e reinaugurado em 2016, tem 10 600 lugares sentados totalmente cobertos, incluindo 42 camarotes distribuídos por dois níveis.[3]
Lugar mítico do futebol madeirense, conhecido pelo "Caldeirão dos Barreiros", foi propriedade da Região Autónoma da Madeira até 2009. Em reunião de Conselho do Governo Regional da Região Autónoma da Madeira a 13 de Setembro de 2007,[4] o estádio passou a ser propriedade do Club Sport Marítimo.
Alvo de remodelação profunda, já nas mãos do Club Sport Marítimo, entre 2009 e 2016 o estádio transformou-se, por criação do Arq. Pedro Araújo, num equipamento de elevada qualidade para a realização de espetáculos desportivos, culturais e de lazer, moderno e polivalente.
