National Pillow Fight Day 2026
Reason
I have been looking at having another event. I remembered going to a pillow fight flashmob some time ago in Newark and really enjoying it, so I thought why not have a go at organising one myself? Follow the link for all of the infomation you need about the national day.
Location
I was looking for a place, busy but not too busy. Easy to get to but out of the way, and looking at this area, it seems perfect. It was only when I was explaining what I was thinking of doing that the irony of organizing a fight in a peace garden was realised. Perfect then - fights don't get much more peaceful than pillow fights. Just think how peaceful the world would be if all disputes were settled this way? There is also a coffee shop nearby so we can have a chat after the fun of the day.

If you want to take part in the sillyness, fantastic! If you want to spectate the shannigans, amazing! If want to come and have a chat after, great! All get a smiley face for attending.
It would just be amazing to get together with new members, old members and non members of the Geocaching community.
The pillows and the fight
Bring a pillow big, small or medium, your choice. Just be mindful that if you are taking part in the pillow fight you are going to be hitting someone with it, and the idea is not to harm them in the process. Pillows stuffed with foam or feathers? Fine. Bricks and nails? Not so much. I guess a good guideline would be "would I mind being hit with this pillow?" Please also think about this: at the end of it all this is a public space. I am sure I do not have to tell you all to think of others and that taking part is at your own risk. (I worry.)
The plan
11.50 I will be getting there before the event to make sure all is well, I surgest participants come and do the same. There is plenty of seating around the fountains so take a seat or just hang around. Spread out for maximum effect, hiding what is about to come. (Not easy when carrying a pillow, I know. Consider this part of the challenge.)
12.00 There will be a whistle. Pillows out, let the fighting begin.
12.02 There will be a second whistle. We all pack away our pillows and drift off. There is a coffee shop (see waypoint) nearby where we can get a drink. No purchase necessary for the find as always, but it would be good to find somewere to have a chat with you all afterwards.
12.30 The official end to the event, but often these things go longer. If you have things to do, caches to find I am sure we all understand that you can not make it to the end.

I hope to see as many people as possible, as I may look even more ridiculous than normal hitting myself with a pillow in the middle of Sheffield if nobody else attends.
