Welcome to Ecton village for a geocaching event at the Three Horsehoes pub to chat about all things geocaching. Plan to meet up in the pub garden, but if wet we can meet inside. The pub serves drinks and snacks.
Continuing the series of events celebrating 250 years of the United States. Ecton is where the one of the founding fathers - Benjamin Franklin's family originated from.
Benjamin's Franklin father, Josiah was born in Ecton, January 1657. Josiah Franklin immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts in 1683 where he met his second wife, Mary Folgar - she's a descendant from the Pilgrims that arrived in Plymouth, Mass some 60 years earlier.
Benjamin made his wealth as a print works and newspaper owner. He is one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America and the only one that signed the peace treaty with Great Britain in Paris. He features on the $100 bills.
