Event Title:
12 Months/12 Hikes – Lake Metigoshe State Park
Event Description:
Let's meet for a Spring Hike and some GeoChatting!
When:
May 2, 2026 @ 10:30 a.m.
Where:
Lake Metigoshe State Park - Near the warming hut
Why:
For the sixth year, the North Dakota Park & Recreation Department (NDPRD) has issued a statewide “2026 Hiking Challenge” with a fresh hiking challenge every season of 2026. To participate, just pick and hike a qualifying trail in one of the 14 state parks. You can complete your hikes all in one park or explore any of 14 locations across the state.
The North Dakota Geocaching Association (NDGCA) would like to help everyone complete their hiking challenge. To do this, we will be hosting an event in a different state park each month, so we can get together with other geocachers and hike.
What:
We will meet at the warming house and hike along the old oak trail and return in time to conduct a CITO starting at 11:00 am. Park officials will meet us at the warming house and tell us where to conduct the CITO as we will break up into smaller groups to cover more of the park. Dress for the weather, could be snow, rain or sun. I will bring water and snacks. Please log a "will attend and number in your group."
Reminders: A daily pass ($7) or annual ND state park pass ($35) is required to enter.
