About SideTracked Events
Every year in the UK, SideTracked Events have been held on 10th August (SideTracked Day) to celebrate the series... and this year is the 19th Anniversary.
About This Event
When I first organised a SideTracked Day event back in 2022, the SideTracked caches around Melbourne were mainly in the outer eastern and south eastern suburbs and it seemed sensible to hold the event in that general area. Unlike the UK where they celebrate SideTracked Day in summer, we are still in the depths of winter and somewhere warm and dry was logical. With railway stations quite reasonably ruled out as policy, for an alternative railway themed location I wanted a Railway Hotel. Although such places could be found in the inner and western suburbs of Melbourne, the eastern side of Melbourne didn't fare so well... and so the event was held at the Railway Hotel, Bunyip.
Jump forward four years to 2026 and SideTracked caches have proliferated all over the state... and so this year's event will still be at a Railway Hotel... but this time much closer to the centre of Melbourne...

For the committed rail enthusiast and public transport user, the hotel is a short walk from Yarraville Station. For everyone else, best of luck with the peak period traffic and finding on-street parking. The event is timed to start at 6:00pm so you are able to buy dinner at the hotel... entirely optional of course! The event will officially finish at 7:00pm when the First to Find winner will be drawn... however there is no need to rush off then.
This is really important... so I can manage the booking with the hotel, please log a Will Attend before 3rd August. Please include the number of people attending and if you are planning to buy dinner.
Please note: the hotel runs a Trivia Night on Mondays starting at 7:00pm. While you are welcome to take part if you wish, it is quite separate from this SideTracked Day event and you will need to book yourself in for the Trivia NIght directly with the hotel.
