Sandcreek has 755 acres to explore, including 7.6 miles of horseback riding & hiking trails. There are plenty of picnic tables and grills in main parking lot for that great summer picnic. There is also a historic marker nearby. The Paris - Springfield Road, which was established in 1824, ran through part of Sandcreek. The road ran just south of Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Among the many people moving west in the early nineteenth century, the Lincoln family traveled this section of the Springfield-Paris road when coming to Decatur from Indiana in 1830.
