E: The Gates of Rodão are one of the finest geo-monuments in
Portugal. Two enormous columns of rock surround the river Tagus,
just a few kilometres after it enters Portugal.
From the top you'll be close enough to the nearby village Vila
Velha de Rodão to hear some typical city noises. However, you will
feel that you’re in a completely different world when you
contemplate the river and surrounding hills. If you look down, you
will see lots of birds flying, with luck even some rare black
storks or an eagle.
Please be careful, as the place is very high. The cache is about
3 m from the edge of the cliff.
P: As Portas do Rodão constituem um dos mais marcantes
geo-monumentos Portugueses. Duas enormes colunas rochosas rodeiam o
rio Tejo, apenas alguns quilómetros depois de este entrar em
Portugal.
Do topo estará suficientemente perto de Vila Velha de Rodão para
ouvir alguns dos sons típicos da povoação. No entanto, sentir-se-á
num mundo à parte quando contemplar o rio e os montes que o
rodeiam. Se olhar para baixo poderá observar bastantes aves e, com
sorte, algumas cegonhas pretas ou mesmo uma águia.
Por favor tenha cuidado: a cache encontra-se a cerca de 3 metros
do penhasco.
