Ungefähr 70 km nordöstlich von Berlin befindet sich das 1927-1934 erbaute Schiffshebewerk Niederfinow am Oder-Havel-Kanal. Es ist immer noch voll funktionstüchtig und damit das älteste Schiffshebewerk Deutschlands, das noch in Betrieb ist. Hier können Lastkähne bis zu 750 Tonnen innerhalb von fünf Minuten über einen Höhenunterschied von 36 Metern gehoben oder gesenkt werden. Es ist schon sehr beeindruckend, wenn man auf der Besucherplattform steht und diesem Schauspiel zusieht sowie den herrlichen Ausblick in die umliegende Region genießt.
Die angegebenen Koordinaten beziehen sich auf die Einfahrt zum großen Parkplatz des Hebewerks. 700-800 m Wegstrecke entfernt haben wir den Cache versteckt. Um den genauen Standort zu erfahren, müsst ihr erst die folgenden Fragen beantworten (alle Antworten können vor Ort einer großen Infotafel am Schiffshebewerk sowie dem Schild eines riesigen Triebstockritzels entnommen werden, das ein paar Meter daneben ausgestellt ist):
1. Einsatzdauer des Triebstockritzels in Jahren = A = ____
2. Breite des Troges in m = B = ____
3. Höhe des Hebewerks in m = C = ____
4. kW eines der 4 Elektromotoren für den Antrieb = D = ____

Der Cache ist eine Tupperdose und befindet sich gut abgedeckt am Fuße eines Nadelbaums.

About 70 km in the northeast of Berlin you find the 1927-1934 built Ship Hoist Niederfinow at the Oder-Havel-Channel. It is still perfectly functioning and therefore the oldest ship hoist of Germany that is still working. Barges up to 750 tons can be lifted or sunk within five minutes over a height difference of 36 meters. It is pretty impressing when you are standing on the visitor’s platform watching this spectacle and enjoying the view over the surrounding region.
The given coordinates refer to the entrance of the big parking place of the ship hoist. About 700-800 m distance we have hidden the cache. To find out the exact coordinates you have to answer the following questions first (all answers can be found on a big information board right at the ship hoist and on the plaque of a “Triebstockritzel” (no idea what that means in English – it just looks like a giant cogwheel to us) which is exhibited a few meters away):
1. Working time of the Triebstockritzel in years = A = ____
2. Width of the vat (Trog) in m = B = ____
3. Height of the ship hoist in m = C = ____
3. kW of one of the 4 electrical engines for the drive = D = ____

The cache is a tupperware box and hidden well covered at the bottom of a conifer.
